How Can I Revoke an Affidavit of Support for a U.S. Immigrant?

The Affidavit of Support, or financial sponsorship, is seen as a legally binding contract, so if the immigrant's green card application has been approved, it will be difficult to revoke your affidavit of support. If the permanent residency application has not been approved, you can withdraw the affidavit of support by sending a letter to the USCIS office that currently has the permanent residency package.

There are also certain conditions by which the affidavit of support terminates, such as if the green card holder becomes a U.S. citizen, dies, has worked a certain number of hours - usually 40 quarters, or the equivalent of ten years - or has left the United States permanently.

If you have any further questions about US immigrant sponsorship or your affidavit of support, please feel free to contact us and we can help you out.
